Aug. 29, 1924 – Dec. 1, 2017
Beer & Slabaugh has been a pillar of the Nappanee community since 1958, when it was founded by Harlan Beer and Roman Slabaugh.
Harlan Beer was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Milford High School. He initially farmed before founding Gravelton Machine Shop in 1950. In 1957, he co-founded Beer & Slabaugh with Roman Slabaugh, later becoming its sole owner after Slabaugh’s passing in 1968. Harlan remained actively involved in the business, leading by example and hard work. He was deeply dedicated to his family, community, and various local projects, including the Nappanee Airport, Nappanee Golf Course, McCormick Creek housing, Heritage House Senior Living Center, and Heritage Farms development.
As a third-generation family business, Beer & Slabaugh has set the standard for commercial construction site development and preparation across northern Indiana. Several family members continue to play an active role in the day-to-day operations of the business.
With a legacy built on pride and excellence, the company has expanded its reach into southern Michigan, delivering comprehensive construction services with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction. We look forward to serving you!
